Park hotel Tornio or similar

Classic hotel located by Tornio river at downtown of Tornio. We welcome you with friendly service and nice atmosphere to enjoy the life in the bordeline of Finland and Sweden! Rooms are equipped with two separate 90-100 cm wide beds, wooden floor, 32” flat screen TV, mini-fridge, hair dryer and free Wi-Fi. There is a private bathroom in every room, equipped with a shower or a bathtub.

Travel program

Day 1 | Arrival in Rovaniemi & Tornio (L/D)

Welcome to Rovaniemi – the capital of Finnish Lapland!
Guide meet you at the Rovaniemi Airport. After arrival private transfers to Santa Claus Village. You can meet Mr. Santa Claus and cross the magical Arctic Circle every day at the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi. There are many souvenir shops as well as Santa’s Main Post Office, pro-gram service companies and cafes and restaurants in the Santa Claus Village. Lunch included. After appr. 3 hours visit, guided transportation to hotel in Tornio. Distance appr. 1,5 hours, bus with facilities (own toilet). Check-in to your hotel, incl. porter service. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 | Snowmobile & Auroras in Sweden (B/D)

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning Snowmobile safari into the wilderness. The safari route runs along traditional forest tracks, winter roads, and frozen rivers in the wilderness in two country – Finland and Sweden. Duration appr. 2 hours.

In the late evening Hunting the Northern Lights – safari to the island Toivola (Sweden) walking with snowshoes. The tour leads you to witness the Lappish nature magic. Night, winter hike on snowshoes walking in deep snow, in the woods and on the ice. The beginning of the night – we move the forest in search of the northern light’s playgrounds in the northern sky… Duration appr. 2 hours. Dinner at the local restaurant.

Day 3 | Legendary Sampo icebreaker tour (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel. Welcome to a unique arctic adventure from Kemi! The Icebreaker Sampo cruises on the frozen sea in Kemi during the winter season with over 35 years of experience. Icebreaker Sampo Cruise includes: 4h icebreaker cruise, ice floating experience, walking on ice, guided tour around the vessel, diploma, welcome drink, lunch or brunch buffet on board and entrance to the exhibition room and return transfers from/to hotel. Duration appr. 5 hours with transfers. Dinner at the local restaurant.

Day 4 | Reindeers & huskies (B/D)

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning Reindeer farm experience. A short car ride takes you to the Reindeer Farm where you can meet the herder, learn more about reindeer’s life, feed and take pictures with reindeer. Learn how to harness a reindeer with a Lappish lasso or Suopunki. Then take the harnessed reindeer on a sled ride on a 1,5 km long trail around the area. Afterwards you will be issued an International Reindeer Driving License! Learn more about reindeer life while enjoying warm beverages and pastry in a cosy Lappish hut before returning back to the hotel. Duration appr. 2 hours

In the afternoon Jive to the Five – Authentic Finnish husky kennel. After dressing up warmly, a short car ride takes you to the Husky kennel. The 5 km trail runs over the frozen lands and swamps and the pure nature of Sea Lapland. A brief introduction is given on how to drive a dogsled safely. This is a self-driving safari where one is mushing and the other one sits in the sled. Halfway you can change the musher if you want. Children always ride in the parents’ sled. After your ride, enjoy warm beverages while learning more about the everyday life with the Alaskan huskies. And of course, you can pet the dogs and take photos with them. Duration appr. 3 hours. Dinner at local restaurant

Day 5 | Departure (B/L)

Breakfast at the hotel. Private transfer to the Rovaniemi airport, private bus with facilities (own toilet). Non guided transfer.
